    A Little About Jennise

Okay, so here is a little bit about me in paragraph.  I am originally from Texas(yahoo, I love that state and have a lot of Texas pride), but transplanted to Utah about 6 years ago.  In 2001 I married my college sweetheart and throughout the next couple of years we finished getting our schooling.  I accomplish my lifetime dream of becoming a nurse in 2004 and started working immediately.  Throughout this entire time, I kind of neglected myself and threw myself into working, eating, and the pounds packed on.  You see, I have always struggled with my weight and my self-confidence, but I managed to keep my weight down by playing tons of sports in high school and working out daily in college.  After I got married I just threw myself into life and forgot that important aspect for myself;healthy eating and daily exercise.  A year after I got married the doctor discovered that I had a moderate thyroid problem, and I started gaining even more weight.  So, a combination of neglect on my part of eating poorly, working too much, not exercising and a thyroid problem did not fare my body well.  Then, about a year ago we adopted a beautiful baby girl and the stress of the adoption and infertility had taken another toll on my body.  I am an emotional eater and all those emotions just got the best of me and ate my way through life until July 2007.  That is when I decided that I could not do this to my body and to my life and my family any longer.  I joined Weight Watchers to start working on my eating habits and portion control and to start gaining control over myself.  I have lost about 20lbs with them, and it is a constant struggle, but I am better than I was 4 months ago.  On the last season of The Biggest Loser, the doctor told one of the contestant's, I believe it was Holly, that she had a severe thyroid problem and that people often use it as a crutch for not losing weight.  That really struck home with me and I realized that I was doing that exact thing; using my thyroid problem as a crutch for not discipling myself enough to lose weight.  So, I decided to stop making excuses for myself, to stop making goals that meant nothing, to stop making charts, graphs and  taking measurements one month, only to give it up and do nothing the following year. I want to love myself again, and then look in the mirror and see the "skinny" me staring back.  I want to stop being depressed, tired, lonely, angry, unhappy and negative I am finally ready to take my crutches away and am ready to stand on my own two feet.  I know the first few times without them will not be easy, but I can do it!  I am armed with a partner, goals that are real and attainable, a contest to get my feet wet and on the ground running, and a support group to help me get back on track if I start to lose my way.  WOW, how lucky am I that I have such a great opportunity to do this, and I am ready! Today is the day for me to begin the rest of my life; with health, happiness, confidence and the desire to finally put myself first on the horizon.   Good luck, my friends, and know that you are not alone!  Inspiration, motivation and new start can be found all around us.

P.S. Tune into The Biggest Loser every Tuesday night for additional inspiration!!!!

    A Little About Jenn

Well, where do I begin...I am from Canada originally but moved to Utah in 2000 to marry the love of my life. Red heart   Before moving to Utah, I served in the Intelligence Branch of the Canadian Forces for 5 years.  Being a mom of only 1 daughter at the time made it easy to find time to work out, hike, bike, etc.  It was great being in the Forces and having a regular fitness routine.  Since 2003 I have been living in a small town outside Salt Lake City called Stansbury Park.  I am still happily married and am now a Full-Time mom to 3 beautiful girls.  Life has had its ups and downs with regards to my health and fitness level.  Tongue out  I am the kind of person that gains alot of weight during the early months of my pregnancies.  I have had a number of miscarriages which I can blame for part of my body size/weight...but really...what is my big problem?  I LOVE FOOD! PizzaPizzaPizza I overeat...not all the time but too much!  I am not as active as I could be.  Over the past year I have tried diets, doing Weight Watchers at home, numerous work out videos, playing sports...but was never consistent.  I did loose a bunch of weight and was working out regularly, but got sick and over time put it all back on.  I love to play sports, Soccer ballI love to run, I love to work out...I just needed to remotivate myself to try and finish what I have started numerous times...I want 'Jenn" back.  I want to be able to look in the mirror and be happy.  I want to be able to feel cute in my clothes again.  I want to be an example of health and fitness for my kids!  I always watch The Biggest Loser.  I dream often about meeting Bob and the gang.  StarI am the one that is on the couch watching...crying...wanting...but never quite doing.  Well today is the day that I am making a commitment to myself...I WILL DO THIS!

    PEDOMETER

Bought a pedometer today!  It was fun looking to see just how many steps are taken daily...Dr. Oz said to shoot for 10,000 steps a day.

    Jenn Week 2

Well I am 2 days into this week.  All that I can say is that I am loving this!!!!  Red heartI am a HUGE fan of reality tv!  I have decided that the only way that I can watch my shows is if I am on the treadmill.  Today I watched Dance Wars that I DVRed last night...2 hrs on the treadmill,,,incline 4....speed 3...well that burned over 650 calories. Tongue out  I also went to Walmart and bought a pedometer...I WILL GET 10,000 STEPS IN A DAY EVERYDAY!!!  Let the fun begin.

Just to let you know...I got 18,786 steps in today!

On Monday I went skiing with my daughter and her class.  It has been fun getting back on the slopes.  I am happy to say that I recovered much faster than when I went on the 1st.  We are hoping to get back up there in the next few weeks.

Tiuesday - We had some awesome ball tonight! I love getting together with the girls to play.  I am so thankful that I have such a supportive husband!

Today is Wednesday and I am wiped.  16,975 steps in and it is now 9:20 pm.  I decided to try something new with regards to eating...update tomorrow.

Thursay - I was on the treadmill for over an hour today!  I love that it burns so bad!!!!!!!!!!  I was talking with Jennise tonight at 10...got a phone call...and we ended up playing volleyball until 11:30.  It sure is nice to get out and play ball a few times a week.  I added a few videos from Jillian that I found online...will be trying them out over the process as well.  Man if I could look half as good as her!...

    Jennise's food

I have been faithfully journaling everything I put into my mouth.  It is amazing to me how every lick, bite, taste and sip add up in the calorie department.  When I am cooking I chew gum and that really seems to help with all that or I eat a small snack before I cook to help me with cravings.  I love eating the Fiber One bars, packed with 9gms of fiber, 100 calorie packs, a small apple or a handful of baby carrots.  I have been very proud of myself thus far because my desire for sweets and significantly gone down.  When I drink all my water and get at least 5 fruits and veggies daily, my desire for sugar is very minimal.  If I do feel like something sweet,  I usually eat sugar-free fudgsicles(40 calories and 4gms fiber for two) or peppermint discs (60 cal for 3) and that usually curbs my cravings.  Tonight I did have a small piece of pumpkin pie, but I did not eat the crust!!

Jenn - VItamins, flax seed, snacks

You know something...it has been easier than I thought to avoid the Diet Pepsi (with lime)...I cannot believe just how much I used to drink....7 days, but whose counting. Clock LOL.. My husband couldn't understand why I was cutting this "diet" drink out of my eating "plan'... well you see, I cannot just have pepsi...I usually want chips or something to go with it.  I am pleased with my decision to avoid that temptation.Open-mouthed
It has been awesome to implement healthier eating habits.  I am a now a huge fan of flax seed sprinkled on vanilla yogurt!  I ordered some online and got an awesome price on the bag pictured below.  I am a huge chip fan and I know that this is going to be a struggle for me if I didn't find a replacement munch food so I decided to purchase the reduced fat wheat thins and for moments of weakness the 100 Calorie Snack Packs that I first saw on The Biggest Loser.
I know that I am the kind of person who forgets to regularly take my vitamins as well.  Well, that is another commitment that I made to myself.  I My best friend did some research and found these awesome ones called ALIVE.  These are a whole food vitamin and I love them! Red heart
All in all I think that I am doing better and on the right track to a healthier me.

    Jennise's Workout Log Day 1-3

Well, I have been working out with a DVD that I received for Christmas called 'Slim in Six' and it is great!  My husband had even been working out along side me and it has been great motivation for me; we are both very competitive and he lights the fire under me to do and be better.  This is great workout for toning your buns and thighs, which is obviously my problem area, for any of you who have seen my pictures!!!  It packs in a little of cardio and gives you a good overall workout in 30 minutes.  Tonight we even had our one year old daughter getting into the groove, and it hit me, that if she see's me exercising and enjoying it, she will grow up to exercise and enjoy it as a part of her lifestlye.  Another thing I have been doing to move more is to wear a pediometer.  I guess the average person should be walking at least 10,000 steps a day or more for normal activity.  If you have not tried using a pediometer before, try it out; I bought a cheap one for $4.88 at Wal-mart, and it does the job.  I moved around a lot today and even ran in place and tried to move more throughout the day and only cleared 7,127 steps; I have a lot of stepping ahead of me.  It is a great motivator to get out and move more!!

Now You See It...Now You Don't

Confession - Last night after we went to volleyball, we went to our friend Keli's house where she had the biggest chocolate cake we have ever seen...no joke.  Well my partner was better than me...last minute slip before we really began.  See photos in late night oops.

    Books

It is going to be fun listing books on here for support.  I am excited to check out some of the books that Jennise and I were talking about this evening.  I really need to get the Dr. Oz book.  I loved watching him on Opera!

    QUOTES

We decided that we are going to add quotes to our site to add motivation...maybe post them to our fridge and mirrors. etc

    Jenn fitness...week 1

I haven't quite fully figured what I plan on doing everyday...I just know that I am going to make sure that I am mixing it up.  I have done numerous TURBO JAM Red heart videos this week.. I love how Chalene Johnson packs each workout with calorie-blasting moves.  I want her killer abs!  I love jammin' right in my own living room! I am a huge fan!!!  I really love to mix up my cardio by doing my running one day, and then Turbo Jam - Cardio Party 1 2 or 3 on another.  It is refreshing to have the dust wiped off of my treadmill again.  I am a little sore from my band and weight workouts.  Feels good to be doing something for me!  Let's see how week 2 goes...I WILL DO THIS!  YEY ME!!!

Phone & Visit Log Week 1

It was a fun phone call today.  We are both so excited to finally be doing something related to The Biggest Loser.  We decided that our Windows Live name should be keeping-it-real...cause that is exactly what we are going to do.  It was fun planning our first get together to get this page up and running.  Alot to get inputted on here so we can get our page entered into the contest.  Jennise should be coming over tonight or tomorrow so we can get pics uploaded...a little nervous about the full profile pics.

We  have gotten together  a few times now and we have been busy trying to get the pics in and do some primping on our page.  What a rude awakening looking at our profile before pics! We never thought that we would look like some of the women on the show...WOW!  Here we are!

It has been great checking in with each other this week.  Nice to know just how much support we have in each other.

It is funny that Jennise's sister saw Heather from Biggest Loser at the store the other evening.

It has been aweomse to be able to give each other ideas on snacks and meals!  Gotta keep my mouth happy and make every bite count.
