Jennise Weigh-in and progress Week 10

I lost 1 lb this week and was a little disappointed because I really wanted to be below 200 lbs before March 11. I have still not bought my jeans, but my goal is in sight. I do have to reflect on the progress I have made both physically and emotionally in regards to my relationship with food and exercise. I now really do enjoy exercising because I feel so good; I cannot say I LOVE it 100% of the time, but am getting there. I also am trying to get little bits of exercise in each day by moving more, using the stairs, parking further away from the grocery store entrance, running up and down my stairs at home, going on walks with my toddler or anything I can do to keep moving and stay off the couch. I am gradually breaking my old habits with food. It is a work in progress and it will always be a battle, but I am trying to come to a point where it is in balance with my life and everything I do. I have felt that balance is the key to everything. When one thing is out of whack, it does affect other things in your life. I am really trying to make conscious efforts to eat well and involve my family and friends and motivate them.

One little exciting thing that has happened with this all, in that my younger sister joined a gym and has started working out and losing weight. She stopped drinking soda and she has lost over 8 lbs and trying to commit herself to a better lifestyle. Also, my friend from work started eating healthy as I started and she has gotten down to her goal weight and is training for a marathon. I am so proud of my family and friends because so many of them have started exercising and losing weight and feeling better about themselves. It may and may not be due to my influence, but I would hope and pray that they have seen me change my life and have felt the motivation within to do the same because if I can do it, anyone can!!

    Food Week 10

My eating for this week was not the greatest and I did allow myself the things that I wanted so I didn’t feel deprived. I tried to move a lot more on the days that I ate a few higher calorie foods or went out to eat. I got at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables in a day and tried to drink a lot of water. I ate this delicious chili verde that my mom made on Sunday. It was made with lean pork sirloin and tons of fresh vegetables; it was actually very healthy and soooo good!! I ate it with mini corn tortillas and filled up on fresh fruit so I ate only 3 mini tortillas. Anyways, it is always a challenge to get something healthy to eat if you are on vacation or not always able to eat at home, but I have found that you can either bring food with you wherever you go or there are more and more options available at restaurants.

I love Turbo Jam!!!- Jennise Week 10

This week I really got into Turbo Jam. I had heard a lot about it, but had never had the opportunity to use it. My mom ordered it on-line and I started using it while in Texas. Boy, is it a good workout. I did the cardio workout one day, the sculpting workout the next, and some other one another day. I loved, loved, loved it because it was so much fun and I didn’t realize I had been working out for an hour. That’s the kind of workout I like!!! Another video I tried was Yoga Booty Ballet; it was a little different and sometimes the movements were hard to keep up with, but also something a little different and a good way to change it up. I took several walks to the park and tried to keep active all day long. I didn’t ever get to play raquetball with my dad or go to the gym because of time constraints, but I really tried to workout while on vacation and I felt that I was pretty successful!!!

    JENN

Well I have to say that eating 7 small meals on my high calorie day is the way to go....I did not get to 2500, but I still got up there and did not feel the way that I did last week.

Just a quick note...I feel like I am spending a lot of time at teh grocery store...reading labels makes getting groceries into a long process.  It is funny to see my friend and I at Costco reading labels.  I find that it is no problem to skip eating things and making healthier choices...it is not worth is to waste calories.

I had a date night at home with my hubby and made the most awesome chicken lettuce wraps!  YUMMY!  It is great to enjoy food that I loved to eat before, now just made with a healthier twist.

Happy to report that I DO NOT miss soda at all!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Isn't Jenn Great??

I really appreciated your message, Jenn, and have to say that I too have missed our great conversations, almost daily, our chats at volleyball and the motivation and encouragement we give to each other.  I am excited to get back to my house, my car, my life and all the fun things that make my world go round.  I have been very fortunate to have such a great partner and motivator during this journey.  I know that this will continue way past this competition and am grateful for that because I will need it to help me lose all my weight.  So, thanks Jenn I will see you in a day!!

    My 1st 5 kM - Burning Rubber! - Jenn

I have been doing as much exercise as my body would allow for the past week & 1/2...I have been feeling pretty crummy! Sick  I am pleased to report that I am feeling a little better and hoping to get back to pushing it hard tomorrow.

I did something that I am SUPER proud of on Saturday...I ran my first 5 km race in years...not only that...but I smoked some of the track team that sponsored it!  I cannot believe it!  To some my time may not seem so great, but for me it was a record time.  I ran the race in 30.20 mins.  It sucked because I had to stop and tie my shoe...which helped me lose my momentum, but I pressed on and was very pleased with myself. Open-mouthed

When we got in the vehicles and were dropped of up in the canyon...(it seemed like forever getting there) my goal was to just cross the finish line since I was still sick and not so sure of how I would do.

I really wish that I could get out to the Pigs Can Fly 5 km, but am pretty sure that that is not going to happen.  I will be running in the Race For The Cure in May, The July 4th 5 km, and one in Saint George in October.  I am really looking forward to it!

    Back on Track

This week has been good but challenging as well.  My eating habits have not been the best, but I have tried and I have exercised everyday since being.  I am really ready to get back home and get back to my regular routine and into familiar surroundings.  I will be leaving Texas tomorrow morning and making the long drive back to Utah.  I will really miss "my home", but am anxious to get back to my husband, my volleyball days, and my treadmill!!!!  It is weird the things you miss while on vacation.  Usually, for me, I would want to just get back, but I am looking forward to get back to my comfort zone of exercise and eating right!!  I think that is significant progress for me because I did not feel this way in the past.

    I MISS YOU!

These past few weeks have been hard because I have not had too much of a chance to really TALK TALK with Jennise.  I know that we have had some things going on in our lives that have been keeping us busy and that is mostly the reason.  I really missed Jennise this week because she was gone to Texas.  I was so hapy to see her blogging while on vacation and was super excited to get emails.  I am happy that she had an awesome time, but I am so excited that she is getting back tonight.  Welcome home Partner!  Can't wait to catch uo tomorrow.

Week 10 Weigh-In Jenn ***edited to add measurements

I was really worried to get on the scale this week.  I am not making excuses but I have been sick and not working out nearly as much as I have been in previous weeks.  I had set the goal of a 30 lb loss by the 11th of March and am not so sure that I am going to make it by that date....I WILL make it but I am not so sure if it will be by the end of MPM.

I am pleased to say that I have lost another pound this week!  I know it is not much, but I'll take it!  When I stepped on the scale to see 173.2 this week I was pleased to see a drop.  I can say that I have not gained in any of my weeks to date. (knock on wood).

    Small but Sweet...Jenn

I was on the conference call with Jenn last week and she asked us to write about a goal and how we planned on getting there.  I have decided that I want to try and get to 170 by Mar 11th...end of MPM.  I am not sure if I will get there by then will will try my all!  If not then I not will happen shortly after that.  I think that it wouldd rock to be at 160 by the finale!  Man that is sweet!  I am so pleased to be down 26 lbs....what a day it will be when I reach my goal weight of 140 lbs.  The contest has really given me a great start on journey to a healthier, happier me!

Message to Jennise...Talking about The Challenge Has Begun......

Well, I had a cookie...but at leasty it was only one.LOL  I am soooooooooo proud of you for sticking to your guns!  Great job on the workouts as well.  I am so excited for us to weigh-in when you get home.  I think that we should do it together since it is the last one of the competition.  Missed you at volleyball too!!!  Glad that you are having fun!

On the call with Jenn last night, she challenged us to myspace her and give her an excuse we have recently made and how we are going to overcome it.

    See you on Sunday.

    The Challenge Has Begun......
Thank you to everyone who has left such wonderful messages of encouragement and support.  I truly appreciate your help and felt so motivated and confident that I can make it through this week!!  I am in El Paso, Texas for those of you who asked.  If anyone knows El Paso, it is right on the border of Mexico and has the most amazing mexican food (yum, yum)!  Yesterday, my challenge began because I had to go out to dinner with family and they both went to Mexican restaurants.  I have to say I was not perfect, but a lot better than usual.  For lunch I only ate about 5 chips with salsa, and then ate 2 chicken tacos on corn tortillas,  with lettuce and tomatoes.  I did eat a bite of beans and rice and then I was done.  For dinner I ate about 7 chips with salsa and then ate caldo de pollo (vegetable broth with chicken); it was loaded with squash, cabbage, carrots, onions and huge chuncks of boneless, skinless chicken breast.  It was very deliscious and filling.  My family ordered sopapillas for dessert and I had one small bite; I can usually down the entire basket and want more.  So,all in all I did really well for myself (I feel) and tried to eat in moderation.  I just know and am aware that every day of my life, food will be a challenge because I love food so much.  However,  I know that is has gotten easier the more I decide to take control of my life and not let food rule my world!  If there are any more suggestions or helps, feel free to put your two cents in!!! Once again, thank you very much to all of those people who have left messages; they are really helped me.  I will keep blogging and keep you posted on my progress.

P.S.  I have exercised everyday since I have been here; I wakeup about 6:30 am and do an hour of exercise.  I have been able to do workouts that I have never before been able to do!!!  I also take my baby on walks and to the park and am going to play raquetball with my dad and go to the gym with my sister.
